Emberly

GMTK 2024 Game Submission.

You're a cute little flame called Emberly who dreams to be so much more. A fire that can not be extinguished. Don't let anything stop you. Became a fire of endless proportion. 

With every world generation, a whole new puzzle to wrap your head around! Try to burn the whole map!

Controls: 

[WASD] and [Directional Arrow Keys] for movement; [SPACE] to generate a new level.

You can move through burnable/burning trees (healthy and dried) and across 1 tile-wide paths.

Current Issues/unfinished aspects:

• Very simple main menu (sadly, done in 20 minutes before the submission).
• Fireman AI clump (code finished while testing 1 fireman close to the submission time, added more to the spawner, they end up moving towards the same fires).
• Fireman AI "random move" is broken (due to an incorrect check, the firemen only move when there are fires they can reach somewhere along the path; nothing game breaking but would help with the clump).
• Minimal sound (only a burning effect while in-game that scales (and gets clamped) depending on how many fires are active).
• No game win/loss check (sadly, the main issue with the submission - you never know if you won/lost by an in-game prompt, you can generate new levels and keep playing though).
• No manual game exit.
